Accounting Manager

We are currently seeking an experienced Accounting Manager who will manage the company’s Accounting and Human Resources functions. The Accounting Manager will report to the CEO and be responsible for analytically assessing and enhancing financial performance while ensuring appropriate processes, controls, and compliance efforts are in place.

The ideal candidate will have accounting and management experience. This person should have excellent attention to detail and be able to zoom out and see strategic opportunities for growth and profitability. The successful candidate will be analytical, resourceful, strategic, collaborative, and an excellent communicator. The ideal candidate must be able to handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced and professional work environment, one that demands excellent problem-solving, organizational and communication skills.

Responsibilities and Requirements

Accounting Responsibilities

· Hands-on involvement in the full-cycle accounting process including journal entries, month-end close and account reconciliation

· Prepare monthly financials and management reporting packages

· Provide financial and operational analyses

· Maintain general ledger structure, continuously optimizing accounting processes

· Supervise, lead, mentor and coach one staff accountant

· Process billing for professional services and subscriptions

· Create client labor contracts in Autotask PSA system

· Manage and assist in the accounts payable, accounts receivable and banking processes

· Provide support for the annual income tax return, and Liability and Workers Compensation insurance audits

· Identify and drive process improvement and/or other projects

· Maintain and enforce a documented system of company policies and procedures

· Ensure proper adherence to internal controls to maintain the integrity over financial reporting; identify and implement additional controls as necessary

· Support quarterly and annual compliance with all federal, state, payroll, and other applicable taxes and regulations

· Complete special projects and ad-hoc requests, as necessary

· Manage employee expense reimbursement process

· Prepare sales tax monthly prepayments and quarterly returns

· Ensure accuracy of LLC financials

· Maintain fixed assets and non-capitalized equipment tracking

· Facilitate insurance and benefit renewals

Payroll/Human Resources Responsibilities

· Prepare semi-monthly payroll

· Process new-hires, terminations and other status changes

· Maintain employee HR files

· Drive annual performance evaluation process for all departments

· Maintain and update employee handbook

· Ensure adherence to all California employment regulations

Required Qualifications and Experience

· Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Business Administration

· CPA preferred

· 7+ years of total financial accounting experience, 4+ years in small business

· Thorough understanding of US GAAP

· Strong computer skills, including experience MS Office and QuickBooks

· Advanced Excel skills required

· ADP and Autotask experience a plus

· Strong critical thinking skills and a can-do attitude required

· Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, are required

· Strong organizational skills and attention to detail

· Must be flexible, have a positive attitude, be willing to learn new things and train others as needed

· Proven ability to manage multiple priorities, complex projects and meet deadlines

· Able to maintain a high level of confidentiality and integrity
