The Santa Clarita Community College District/College of the Canyons is seeking a full-time Director, Employer Engagement & Partnerships in the Career and Technical Education division.  

Salary Placement:

This twelve (12) month per year position will be on an individual contract. This classified administrator position will be placed on Range 14 of the Administrator Salary Schedule. Step placement is based on experience. 

Initial salary step placement for new employees is customarily at step 1, 2, or 3 ($11,421.00 / $11,594.00 / $11,766.00 per month) of this 20-step salary range.

All administrators are on an employment contract and exempt from overtime and compensatory time accumulation.

District Classified Administrator Benefits:

Full-time employees are provided with a diversified employee benefits program that includes sick time, vacation time, discretionary time, medical, dental and vision insurance including dependent coverage, disability, and life insurance as well as Section 125 options. These benefits commence on the first of the month following date of hire. Professional development and educational incentive opportunities are provided to all classified administrative employees.

Overall Responsibilities:

Under the direction of the Dean, Career Education, Integrative Learning and Employment Center, this position implements the District’s responsibilities under the terms of the South Central Coast Regional Consortium Regional Collaboration and Coordination Grant Employer Engagement Plan for College of the Canyons as awarded to the College by the California Community Colleges Chancellor’s Office, Economic and Workforce Development (CCCCO EWD) program. In addition, this position will collaborate with the office of Workforce and Economic Advancement and the College Foundation to develop partnership opportunities and optimize engagement with business and industry through the district’s Customer Relationship Management (CRM) application.

 

 Essential Job Duties:

 Duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:

  1. Assists the Dean of Career Education with the administration of the Advanced Technology Center (ATC).
  2. Plans, develops, and executes the administration of the SCCRC (South Central Coast Regional Consortium) business and industry comprehensive local needs assessment (CLNA).
  3. Serves as the administrative lead for “Learn and Earn” models including pre-apprenticeships and apprenticeships.
  4. Assists the Dean of Career Education and CTE program chairs and faculty to build and maintain strong business and industry participation on the Instructional advisory boards.
  5. Coordinates and implements Business and Industry Leadership Teams (BILT) by the CCCCO defined industry sectors that will advise Instruction and Workforce and Economic Development of growth opportunities and emerging trends.
  6. Establishes and maintains contact with business and community partners in order to develop relationships and define their organizational needs.
  7. Collect, analyze, and disseminate information and feedback from local and regional business partners to key internal stakeholders through monthly reports generated by the CRM system.
  8. Participates in relevant community organizations and events.
  9. Develops social media and marketing strategies in conjunction with the Public Information Office to market programs, events, and other activities.
  10. Assists with consistent branding and messaging in the College's outreach efforts. Develops and maintains a current menu of offerings.
  11. Assists in the planning and hosting of community and/or business expositions, events, meetings, and conferences on behalf of the College and Career Education programming.
  12. Attends and engages with key stakeholders at events held by the Chamber of Commerce, Economic Development Corporation and Valley Industry Association.
  13. Contributes to the planning of outreach activities including but not limited to College Day, Manufacturing Day, and regional and district job fairs.
  14. Represents the District on local, regional, and statewide committees or organizations.
  15. Attend workshops, conferences, meetings, and networking events to develop and maintain relationships and stay current with emerging industry and employment information.
  16. Make presentations at college, regional and statewide meetings regarding business partnerships and workforce engagement.
  17. Serves on relevant campus-wide committees.
  18. Serves on relevant boards and attends relevant meetings both on campus and within the local community to raise awareness of educational opportunities for business and community partners. 
  19. Provides training and support to faculty, staff, and business/community partners on various topics, programs, or services.
  20. Prepares proposals, presentations, marketing documents and program outlines to secure contracts and participation in classes and programs.
  21. Make presentations to groups on campus such as the College Planning Team (CPT) and Management Advisory Council (MAC).
  22. Assists in the preparation of reports as required. 
  23. Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Minimum Requirements

 

Minimum Requirements: 

Experience:  

Minimum of two years’ full-time experience providing support as customer service representative, marketing assistant, sales associate, or business analyst. Prior experience interfacing with both public and private sector employees and organizations a plus.

Education:  

Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.

Licenses/Certifications:

Possession and maintenance of a valid California driver license.

Preferred Qualifications:

Master’s degree in business administration or related degree.

Desirable knowledge of career education programs in academia.

Experience with public and private sector employees and organizations. 

 

Physical Characteristics:

Sedentary position requires use of a computer and related equipment for extended periods of time; frequently exerting 10 to 20 pounds of force to move objects; communicating and providing information to others; work outside on all parts of District locations and in varying weather conditions. In the event of an emergency, employees will be relied upon to serve as emergency service workers. Intermittent exposure to impatient, angry, and/or verbally aggressive individuals; and travel from site-to-site.
