Universal Pain Management (www.universalpain.com) is seeking a full time Medical Assistant for our Valencia and Sherman Oaks locations. The Medical Assistant performs clinical and administrative tasks to support the work of physicians, nurse practitioners, physician assistants and other healthcare professionals. As part of the patient care team, the Medical Assistant provides direct, professional care to patients within their scope of practice in the office setting and as a member of the procedure team.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Graduation from an accredited Medical Assisting Program
- Current American Heart Association BLS Certification
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Prepares patient exam rooms for medical examinations and procedures, keeping rooms neat and clean
- Escorts patients to exam rooms and conducts intake interviews to obtain patient's medical and surgical history, vital statistics, current medications and other information such as imaging that has been performed and other providers the patient has seen
- Measures patient's vital signs and reports abnormal values to provider
- Requests medical records from outside sources and scans into chart
- Assists providers with examining and treating patient
- Maintains timely patient flow and room availability
- Collects urine for urine drug screens
- Assists with procedures as a part of the procedure team.
- Dispenses DME
- Scans medical records into the EMR
- Accurately documents medications ordered by providers
- Sends accurate and well-written messages to providers
- Maintains and monitors all equipment used for patient care, reporting any deficiencies to supervisor
- Inventories and orders medical supplies
- Assist with training and orientation of new staff
- Cross-trained to provide coverage in front office
